Twenty-five when he married at Coulonge on 4 May 1706, so born about 1681. His father stood with him, along with his brother Jacques and his cousin Etienne Trouillet, and he signed the act himself. Marie Metaireau was nineteen, baptised at Coulonge on 28 November 1687, a daughter of Jean Metaireau and Marie Regnard. He was a vigneron, a winegrower. They had Rene in 1707, Francois in 1708 who lived six days, Jean in 1710, Pierre in 1712, Charles in 1715 and Marie in 1718, who lived three months. He moved the household from Coulonge to Aubigne, where he stood at his son Rene's marriage in 1738 and at Pierre's burial in 1739. He died at Aubigne on 26 September 1754 and was buried the next day, aged about seventy-two. The burial names five of his children standing at the grave: Rene, Charles and Jean his sons, and Marie and Francoise his daughters. Jean signed the register jean courtien. It is the act that settles this family's descent. Marie had died by 1741; Rene was still living, and was present at Jean's wedding.
