The youngest of the nine, and the last of them. US Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, then troop transports in the Atlantic convoys and the Pacific; lieutenant, US Naval Reserve. He married Agnes Anne Lightbody at St. Catharine's, Pelham, on 7 July 1946; they had met before the war at the Catholic summer camp at Cliff Haven, and she was a nurse. Agnes was born in Manhattan on 2 October 1923, the eldest child of Robert Lightbody and Hannah Moloney, and lost her father at nine. Her parents were both Irish and from opposite ends of the island. Robert Lightbody was born at Crossgar in County Down on 11 December 1893, landed from the SS California on 18 May 1914 to join his brother Samuel at New Rochelle, and was a farm labourer at Scarsdale. Hannah Moloney was born at Castleconnell in County Limerick on 17 March 1894, landed from the SS Baltic on 5 May 1913, and was in service to a Manhattan lawyer's household. Robert became a Catholic, and they married at Blessed Sacrament in New Rochelle in December 1919, three days before Hannah's father died in Ireland; she sailed home, and came back on the SS Celtic in May 1920. He went to sea for Moore McCormack Shipping and then spent the rest of his working life with the Department of the Navy, latterly as Director of Materials for the Military Sealift Command, retiring in 1981. Agnes died at Mount Vernon in July 1992, at sixty-eight; his obituary gives the sixth and her memorial the seventh. Thomas outlived her by eighteen years and died at Mount Vernon on 6 January 2010, at eighty-eight. They rest together at Beechwoods Cemetery, New Rochelle. He left thirteen children, twenty-five grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
